Terms of Service
Last updated: [Last Updated Date]
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Shiplane (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the "Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. The Service is operated by [Business Entity Name].
2. Description of Service
Shiplane is a freight and shipping platform that lets users calculate shipping rates, book freight shipments, track shipments in transit, and view and manage invoices for those shipments. The Service is available both to guests and to registered account holders, with the scope of what each can do described in the sections below.
3. Accounts
Booking a shipment through your own account, saving addresses, and viewing your full shipment and invoice history require a registered account. Registration is optional for the core tracking and guest invoice lookup features described in Section 4, and is never required simply to check the status of a shipment.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.
4. Guest Access
Anyone with a valid tracking number can look up a shipment's status without creating an account or providing any additional credential. This guest tracking view shows shipment status and general shipment details, and does not show cost, payment, or full address information.
Guests can also look up and view an invoice by providing both the shipment's tracking number and the email address used at booking. Both must match for an invoice to be shown, a tracking number alone is never sufficient to view billing detail.
5. User Responsibilities and Prohibited Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You agree not to:
- Provide false or misleading information when booking a shipment or contacting us.
- Attempt to access another user's account, shipment, or invoice data without authorization.
- Use the Service to ship prohibited, illegal, or hazardous goods without proper declaration.
- Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems.
- Use automated means to scrape, brute-force, or otherwise abuse the guest tracking or invoice lookup features.
6. Payments and Invoicing
Shiplane generates its own invoices for booked shipments. Invoices may be issued to a registered account holder or to a guest at the email address used at booking. As of this version of the Service, no online payment processor is active, invoices are tracked as outstanding until payment is confirmed and recorded through other means. Once an online payment method is introduced, it will be described here and, where required, you will be asked to agree to additional payment terms at the time of payment.
7. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, [Business Entity Name] disclaims all warranties, express or implied, and will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, including delays, loss, or damage in connection with a shipment, except where such liability cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or used the Service in a way that creates risk or legal exposure for us or other users. You may stop using the Service, and may request deletion of your account, at any time.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify registered account holders. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [Governing Law Jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict of law principles.
